Falkjoined Andrea Cavalleri's group in 2015 where he uses radio-frequency transport measurements to investigate the influence of strong laser fields at terahertz and infrared frequencies.
His past research focused on time-resolved imaging of magnetization dynamics in ferromagnetic nanowires. Using a combination of radio-frequency transport and time-resolved transmission X –ray microscopy at the XM-1 and the MAXYMUS microscopes he studied the fast domain-wall creation and non-linear internal dynamics of vortex domain walls.
Falk graduated at the University of Hamburg in 2011 where he also started his Ph.D. research in the Sonderforschungsbereich 668 of the Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft. After a research stay at the Kyoto University (Japan) with the Postdoctoral Fellowship of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science he received his Ph.D. in 2014 from the University of Hamburg.
