Short bio

After having completed his Master studies in 2006, Daniele joined the PhD school in Physics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in the group of Prof. Paolo Calvani and Prof. Stefano Lupi. During his PhD, he investigated the low-energy electrodynamics of high-temperature superconductors with steady-state Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, using both conventional and synchrotron-based radiation sources.

In February 2010, he successfully defended his PhD thesis with the title “Metallic-phase instabilities driven by temperature and doping in superconducting cuprates”.

 

Soon after, he joined Andrea’s group in Hamburg, where he is currently working as a scientist. His research activity focuses on the study of nonequilibrium superconducting states induced by laser pulse stimulation at infrared and terahertz frequencies. He is primarily working on high-TC cuprates and organic molecular superconductors, but his interests extend, more generally, to the optically-driven nonlinear dynamics in a variety of complex solids. To this end, he is combining a broad spectrum of pump-probe techniques with the use of high external pressures and strong magnetic fields.
